Our company, Neshama, Inc., designs and manufactures unique handbags and 22 karat gold fine jewelry. Our talented designer, Avara Yaron, designs exclusively for our company and has a passion for creating museum quality pieces (in fact, our handbags are sold in over a dozen museum stores across the country including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., for a complete list please visit the Store Locator page).
Since our company designs, manufactures, and sells our own products we have elimiinated several levels of overhead costs. This allows us to make our products available at a price that is substantially less than Madison Avenue to which it compares.
Avara’s designing process is inspiration driven. When an idea comes through her she begins with a drawing, a rendering, whether it’s an handbag or a piece of jewelry. This inspiration can come from a swatch of unusual fabric, or it might be from a beautiful gem or pearl that she finds.
After all designs are in their finished stage, it looks like a piece of artwork at this point, we hand deliver these designs to our workers located in Indonesia. With our handbags we employ highly skilled workers who have specialties. Some are expert wood carvers and will carve our bases and handles, while others are experts in detailed inlay and still others are expert sewers who will provide the finishing touches. We also employ expert goldsmiths used to working with 22 karat gold. We personally oversee the production process and have very strict quality control standards in place. All of these craftspeople are among the finest in their fields and have worked for us for the last 10 years. We are very grateful for their beautiful work and they in turn are very grateful for the work we give them. This is what Fair Trade is all about.
Our products are handcrafted in small batches. We do very limited production runs making it extremely unlikely that any two people will have the same designs. You can be confident that when you buy a Neshama creation you are buying something far more valuable than its price, and we guarantee it (see Our Guarantee).
In our 10 years in business we have consistently heard this comment from our customers, “I get more compliments on your piece than any other piece I own”. We believe there are two reasons for this. The first is Avara’s very special and unique designs. She is a true artist and visionary. The second has to do with why we named our company, ‘Neshama’. Neshama is the hebrew word for soul. Our goal from the beginning is to create art that is infused with soul through the entire designing and manufacturing process. This goal has been communicated to all our employees who are in complete alignment with it. We are proud of our ability to satisfy our customers with beautiful artistic pieces at affordable prices.
